Valve Guide Seals

Hi all,
My Elan blows a little smoke and it's been diagnosed as being the valve guides. I know the car isn't supposed to have seals but what types can be retrofitted? I'm sure I saw a post on this a while ago but after going through the threads can't find it and the search function doesn't appear to be working.
Cheers,
Neil

Just a word of caution. If you're planning on running the car on the racetrack then set the stem clearances to the Lotus Service Manual specs otherwise the chance of seizing a valve goes way up. You can run these big clearances and still stop the oil smoke with the stem seals. Recommend you run synthetic oil on the racetrack.

synthetic oil caused a catastrophic bottom end failure on one of my twin cams ---I wont use it in my lawn mower --- it isn't designed for older motors --the word synthetic says it all fossil oil is best for older motors --[and so it begins again] ---ed

not so much -- we found less blow ups when we went from synthetic back to ash oil in our vee engines --that convinced me my belief it caused my tc failure was correct -----ed

Oil - Shmoil !!
If my Twink were of an ethenic persuation other than Eurasion I would have to resort to Castrol R (can't you smell the bacon frying?) Mornng in the pit campground.
I run either Mobil one or Pennzoil synthetic since my rebuild 7 years back. It works -- new spec engine, new tech. ---therefore, new oil!!! SYNTHETIC.
Don't fry your eggs in it 'tho -- might be carsosomething.
Back to the pits breakfast and Castrol R
