Not an elan, but a lotus super 7 twincam.

PostPost by: PSJ » Thu Apr 28, 2011 8:34 pm

Hello.

My 1st post. Hope it's in the correct section!

I own a 1979 Caterham S3 super 7 (based on the original lotus S3 super 7) and being based on the lotus it has the lotus twincam engine :D (built and tuned by vagentune - 130bhp)

Joined up on here simply for proper good advice regarding the engine and Dellorto's (40) carbs etc.

Recently got the car up and running but next job on the list is stripping, cleaning and setting/tuning the Dellorto's back up so There running perfect!
Here is my project thread : http://mobile.pistonheads.com/gassing/t ... TwinCam%29

I live in carlisle (Cumbria) is there anyone well known in my area who can help me out regarding the carbs and most of all the twincam engine!?

Or any good pointers advice within this forum which will help me? :)

Thanks, piers.

Hi Piers,

Through Miles. I had a ride in your car with your dad years ago when it was in Jubilee livery! I subsequently got into sevens and then Elans.

Yes, give me a call and have a run out to sunny Walton. I have builts sevens from scratch and have some bits which may be of use to you.

I can also advise on your carbs and what to do.

Cheers

Jono

Bought my Caterham at the factory from Graham Nearn in 1975. Drove it to Italy then shipped it in bits to US. Great car!
I am about to clean/rebuild the Dellortos fouled no doubt by ethanol.
Glad to exchange information/aid with any and all Lotus owners.
