Is anyone doing the Lotus logo for Kangol buckles in the original metal foil?
There is a guy on Ebay advertising repro logos but if they are simply vinyl stickers then his price is extorionate. He doesn't say if they are a faithful replacement.
...any pointers would be appreciated.
Cheers
Jon

Are the labels black with silver? Where did you buy them on e-bay?

The one's I got on eBay were black and silver. They fit well, sort of a foil sticker. The seller has other period stickers as well.

Does anyone know of a source for the magnetic Kangol buckle? Used ones in good condition would be acceptable. The metal pieces in mine are rusted & Quickfit in the UK aren't sure that they can successfully take them apart to repair them. Also I need one cloth label that is on the webbing itself.

Hi Keith,
I think Sue Miller does the static type, perhaps on an exchange basis, definitely used to anyway. If you want inertia belts then ebay is the best bet. I bought a set of rear belts for my Plus 2 and had Quickfit put the buckles onto my existing reels.
Cheers

Those are the one's I got. I didn't recall the cost! Note quantity in the listing is a pair; I forget the details of what I ordered, but I ended up with eight stickers somehow.

Could someone explain what a Kangol buckle is, and where the logo is situated on the buckle. This is a new term for me, but maybe I am just ignorant . A photo would be nice.

Hi Skittle and Everyone Else
Kangol are/were a UK seatbelt manufacturer and their products were used by many car manufactures in the 60s and early 70s, including Lotus. They were often labled up with the car manufacturers name when supplied as original equipment so people here are wanting some of these lables either to try and refurbish and old set of belts or to make a set which were not originally from a Lotus look like they were.

Kangol magnet were a company producing seatbelts and safety equipment here in Carlisle in the North of Cumbria England until I think the 1980's. They also produced safety hats and the brand still appears on those trendy hats with the kangaroo logo which Madonna et al often wear.
The old Kangol factory in Carlisle is now under new ownership and still produces seatbelts here in Carlisle for high end cars including Lotus, Bentley and Aston with a very small workforce of around 20. When Kangol were at full tilt they produced the famous magnetic buckle belts for just about every car going - Merc, Jag, Triumph etc. (but perhaps not for the American market?).
Here are some of their buckles with the Lotus logo (they were the same for all other cars but with different logos on)
