Ignition switch connections.
Have rewired an Elan +2 and find no feed to the coil - suspect I have some crossed wires on the ignition switch. Strangely the workshop manual does not show which wre should go to which termeinal on the back of the igniton switch. Can anybody help?

That'll teach you to make an accurate list the next time you dismantle your dash
I usually work it out again from first principles, and I can't lay hands on the last diagram I made, but the S4 Wiring diagram which is a 'photo' on this site somewhere shows:
1. Bat NU (brown blue)
2. Ign. White & it looks as this is the feed to the ignition coil via the loop in the tacho.
3. Start WR White Red the lead to activate the starter solenoid
4. ACC (accessories?) WP = White/Purple.
One of the terminals (I forget which) has TWO connector prongs on the same contact.

From my 72 S130 the wiring on the switch is as follows.
1. To solenoid to operate starter. 1 wire White/Red.
2. Live feed from battery and feed to fusebox for door lights etc. 2 wires Brown.
3. To Ignition, Coil. 2 wires White and Red (thin).
5. To Accessories, windows etc. 2 wires Yellow and Red (thick).
The numbers refer to what is actually stamped on the switch next to each terminal.
Regards
Steve

Oh, Oh that is quite different....
The S4 Wiring diagram is drawn as if the numbers in my message above are what is marked in the switch..
So you have a problem.
I think you will need to do what I do, take the switch out and use a multimeter in continuity (low ohms mode)to identify which is the COMMON connector (that goes to the live feed from the battery, then it will be straight forward to identify the others.
Start by finding the START connector that will be the one that is only connected to ANY other connector when the key is hard over in the start position. Then Identify the Accessories connector, that will be the one only connected to anything when the switch is turned left (?)
