Equipment Please- DTI to establish true TDC

PostPost by: nico506 » Mon May 10, 2010 11:08 am

Hi all,
I live in Leicestershire and as you will note in postings having problems starting my elan. I need to check the TDC using a dial gauge indicator and ask if anyone in the locality can assist me with the loan or use of such equipment - or even better welcome to drop by and use equipment to check the settings - as i cannot justify the cost as, at the moment in between jobs.

Drop me a pm if U can help and this would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Nico

You can use a length of wooden dowel down the plug hole.

Hi Nico

Obviously I don't know just what your circumstances are but I assume you are aware that a cheap but perfectly adequate dial gauge can be had for less than ?10

Check out Chronos tools

I agree Nico. Easy to buy and always usable. I had a spare I offered on this site some time ago but its gone now. If you are stuck and really want to borrow one let me know. But for what it costs in postage you could probably buy yourself one.

Take the plunge young fella. Or pm / e mail me if you want to borrow...

Are you taking the head off? Have you thought about how you will be mounting the tool?

This is the typical set-up. The marks on the Front Cover are within a few degrees; mine was nearly perfect. What problem are you having that the TDC is suspect?
