Reliable garage for engine work London/SE/Kent area

PostPost by: Chickenhawk » Sat Oct 24, 2009 9:39 am

I've got a plus2 with a head gasket that's leaking oil, can anyone recommend a garage in the London/SE/Kent area that's any good to replace it?

I've also had an issue with my rear hubs fouling the lower wishbone bolts. I attributed this to worn outer bushes and changed them which helped and seemed to cure it, but the working clearance is still only 3-4mm between the bolt heads and the inner rim. Is that about right or should there be a small spacer/shim on the hub?

Thanks

mmm.....I guess that's 'proper' engineering then. Bit tight for my liking.

Thanks for reply

Lakeside Engineering in Woking in Surrey are a good bet for the engine work. Max there knows what he is doing and is honest and trustworthy in my book.

The rim to bolthead clearance you mention sounds about right to me. It is really tight and one of my steel wheels has to go on the front as there is one spot where the rim brushes the bolthead on the rear even though it measures up as round!
