Headlamp vacuum loss

PostPost by: Si_130/5 » Wed Jul 13, 2005 7:25 pm

Hi there,
I've changed the headlamp vacuum pipes and checked the unions and non return valve on my 1973 +2 but the lamps still pop up minutes after switching off. All that's left is the vacuum pod and the solenoid. Is there a way of telling which is at fault without buying both items new and has anyone managed to change the seal in their solenoid? (mine is a replacement). Grateful for any help,

Simon

Hi Si

Have you tried clipping the tube that leads from the pod (with the headlights down)?

Berni
Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.

Simon,

There's a write-up about the headlight vac system on the Golden Gate Lotus Club site. http://www.gglotus.org/ggtech/ggtech.htm

Click on "Elan/+2" and look for the article on the Headlamp System.

Cheers,
