camshaft identification

Hi,

I found the following lettering on the camshafts:

inlet: MC23929
B26E351 C

exhaust: MC25011
26E351

Does anyone know what kind of cams these are?

Assuming they have not been reground at any time they are type B camshafts - Std Weber.

the books only talk about grooves or no grooves??
I would like to know more about the different types of camshafts.

Robin,
The Lotus part # for a standard weber engined cam is B 026 E 0351
The Lotus part # for a U.K. stromberg SE cam is C 026 E 0351
It would guess you have a SE cam in the inlet and a standard cam in the exhaust, you can check the lift by by measuring the height and subtracting the width.
I believe the MC numbers are a Ford number and refer prodution, casting or batch information and are of no help in identifying camshafts.

I would not trust the part numbers on the cams. Most cam have been reground over the years. Are there any additional stamps on the end of the cams? The only to be sure of what you have got is to measure them for lift and duration.
