My Leakdown test (following Compression Test)

PostPost by: peterako » Wed Nov 28, 2007 6:01 pm

Hi Guys,

As advised, after my poor compression test, I did a leakdown test on my twincam....

Cylinder 1: exhaust valve leak, possible ring leak
Cylinder 3: exhaust valve leak, possble ring too
Cylinder 4: exhaust and intake leak, gasket leak (?) to cyl 1 and 2 (!!)
Cylinder 2: wouldn't even hold the 100psi....couldn't even get to 60psi!
exhaust and intake valve leaks, possible ring and gasket (sounds like a burst tyre!).

So, I'm running on three (effectively).

Bite the bullet time.....

Peter,

That all sound familiar. When you pull it appart you will most likely find headgasket issues with the #2. When I pulled ours appart the bridge area of the gasket was bad and gave the great rush of air everywhere!

Leakdown tests are more helpful that any compression test!

Best of luck on the rebuild.
