radiators

There's a guy on Ebay who regularly sells brand new Spitfire/Herald wide rads at ?82.00 a time. Does using one of these -with a modified top outlet - seem like a good first try for a new rad in my S4 rebuild? My theory being if it works OK I've probably got decent cooling without going to the expense of an aluminium rad or a re-core. If it doesn't then it's only cost ?82.00 to find out. I'd probably loose the filler at the same time and go for one of Cliveyboys 'stat housing/fillers.

Hi Mike
A full width radiator is money well spent.
The larger Triumph radiator is usually a straight swop on the Elan but sometimes on the Plus 2 the filler cap touches the bonnet.
At ?82 even if you have to get it modified should still be good value for money.

Mike

Could you post the Ebay ID of the seller?

Sounds a good idea - what mods would you need to do?

Thanks

The sellers ID is "948s" and the radiator is currently listed as item number 320145896010. Don't mention that it fits a Lotus as when I come to buy one the price will have doubled :!:
I've only refered to previous threads regarding the top hose connection - someone far more knowledgeable might comment further.
He's sold quite a few of these so he must have a reasonable stock of them. No point starting a bidding war - just wait for the next one to come along.

Thanks Mike

I have quite a bit to do before I get to the radiator so will not be after one for a while but will make a note of his ID for nearer the time - so if anyone bids against you now its not me!
