Spent the morning taking rotten 2x6 boards off a deck. Their shear load in the 1.5" dimension was well over 100 pounds. ROTTEN.

I love the way this post has gone, thanks fellas.
When I was younger, an old tree in the garden was just fine as an engine gantry without a second thought, several Austin 1100s, Anglias, Cortinas and a Citroen Light 11 all had transplants in the garden.
No handy trees any more and I'm also a lttle more circumspect in my old age.
