Miles Wilkins book gives:-
Dwell angle(degrees) 60 (+_ 3)
Static and Advance alter as per engine spec in the range 8 degrees to 35 degrees....

The dwell depends on the distributor you have. The 60deg spec refers to the original 23D4 distributor. It is different if you have a 43D4, for instance, because the cam is a different shape. However the points gap is the same at 14-16 thou. Dwell is something like 51 deg on a 43D
4.

Best to check the manual for the timing. It depends on the issue of your distributor. This in turn depends on whether you have weber/dellorto carbs or strombergs, cams and whether the car was for the US market.

Best regards, iain

I'm curious about '16v' as well, are we talking about volts or valves?
