What is considered to be the best way to rope up a complete engine to drop back in.
For balance it looks like lashing around the inlet manifold and around the thermostat bellhousing casing looks best.
Will this take the weight of the engine?(no box).
Thanks,
Kenny

I recall reading in one of the manuals the preferred method is two straps, one around the crankshaft between the pulley and front housing, and one around the shallow portion of the oil pan.
I've never tried it this way, but I thought I'd give it a go when my engine/gearbox combo goes back in sometime this month.

I have participated in at least 10 different engine installs, all using this method, no problem. All of them were done with the transmission included.

I have done about a half dozen using the inlet/themo locations. No damage done to head and also given the amount of tilting and working the lower parts past the frame mounts you might be happier than strapping up the motor mounts or crank and pan .
