Headlamp vacuum question

PostPost by: pereirac » Mon Feb 12, 2007 3:18 pm

I 'rebuilt' my Dellorto carbs the other day and now my headlamps take ages to come up (and stay up)? I didn't touch the vacuum pipes so I assume it's something to do with the carbs. All suggestions welcome?

If anybody can recommend somebody in the Cambridge area who can tune Dellortos that would be even better...

Thanks

Carl,

I think Daytune are still going. Somewhere near Burwell. Will dig out contact details if you wish.

Alternately, there are other outfits near us.

As regards the headlamp pods, I assume it is vacuum related. So what about 'O' rings leaking? Have you tried gently rocking the air filter unit to see if there's any change in tickover revs?

Regards,
Stuart.

Stuart,

Thanks for the suggestion. Peter Day was going strong when I spoke to him about a year ago and he is in an industrial estate in Burwell, although he sold Daytune in Cambridge. I always used him in the 80s when I first rebuilt my Elan.

If I am going to visit Peter, I had better start saving now...

I have his number somewhere if you need it.

Regards

Carl

Carl,

Please take a look at the recent discussion on drooping headlamps in the "Elan" section forum, you'll see my solution and other good tips on this common problem
