cleaning cylinder head

Have just removed the head from my twink.
(I am aiming to recondition a 711m bottom end to refit before spring)
Anyhow, now I have the head it could do with a bit of a decoke.
there is plenty of evidence of oil burning which has left a load of carbon on the head (which has been rebuilt in the past 5K miles)
So what do you guys suggest to clean off the carbon without damaging the head?
Cheers
Tim

I use 3Ms "ROLOC" bristle brushes in an air powered die grinder, I guess you could use them in drill with an arbour and backing plate. I use the green cup type brush to remove gaskets and carbon from alloy and steel,
I tried 3Ms web site for a link, but its not very helpful, I'll have a hunt and see if i can find a link for you

My local engine specialist machine shop uses soda blasting for cleaning alloy heads, I have done it with a couple of twink heads and it does a nice job of cleaning them up with zero damage to the alloy. Once you have finshed blasting you rinse the head and any remaining soda dissolves away.
