Cam shaft lubrication

Question about twin cam cam shafts lubrication.
If I see quiet well where the oil comes from I am wondering how it goes back to the sump after lubricating the cam shafts. I presume they are holes in the head and the block but how many, where are they located.....?

There is a return on the intake side back between the 3rd and 4th cylinders. This runs through the rubber pipe on the outside of the engine, going into the block just behind the fuel pump.
The only other way oil returns to the block is by flowing to the front of the head and running down in the timing chain case.
There is a third way - you soak up all of the oil that leaks out and squeeze the rag so it runs back into the oil cap

I bags the third option. Can you recommend the best rag Nylon, cotton or an old face washer.

The rubber tube does not actually drain oil from the head, it is a vent pipe for crank case blowby gases and also acts as a drain for oil knocked out from these gases in the chamber cast in the side of the head before the gases vent from the port in the side of the head.
Oil drains from the front of the cams down the chain case. There are also a row of holes on the inlet cam side that drain down through the redundant pushrod holes in the block.
On later heads there was a cross drilling at the rear of the block that drained the rear exhaust side across to the inlet side. You can identify if your head has this by a plug just behind No4 exhaust port.
