Spring Compressor Design/Drawing/Plans

PostPost by: elangtv2000 » Mon Sep 04, 2006 10:11 pm

Hello group,
I have found one drawing of a front spring compressor in the archives, and was wondering two things; is the front spring held by a top retainer that comes off when the assembly is removed from the chassis, or is it held captive and the shock/spring removed from the chassis as a unit?
Also, does anyone have any other design for a spring compressor they would be willing to share?
Many thanks,
Greg

Greg
The front spring is held captive by a split retaining ring (surely not the correct technical term.) and can be removed from the car complete then stripped

John  .

Well not so much as a design as an improvisation, an old brake disc, a bolt on wheel (Elan/Europa) a couple of M10 screwed rods and nuts & washers.
