Lucas starter motor

PostPost by: DaveyBoy » Mon Aug 07, 2006 6:14 pm

My starter motor has broken down  and since I cannot afford to replace it with a pre-engaged/high torque motor i'm faced with a recon' lucas one :( . My problem is that the part number has rubbed off of mine - does anyone here have a record of the number?

Secondly, i've been slightly confused reading the back log of info on this subject as to whether i need a part with 10 or 9 teeth?? There seems to be some contradictory info. Is there even an option with the stock Lucas part?

Thanks for your help.

Hi

I replaced mine a couple of months ago, I got mine from the mini spares site below, it cost ?28.11 much cheaper than the Lotus listed ones :D

This starter has never jammed (so far) and spins the engine over lovely. From ordering it it came within 3 days.

I use this site quite a bit as I also have a Mini and even bought my Luminetion for the +2 from here at a saving :)

I changed mine a couple of year back.
Paul Matty supplied a reconditioned one with a 10T bendix for I think ?30.
Its still going strong and has never jammed.
