nothing solid came out with the oil no gold or nuggets ---the valves in 3 and 4 are burned ---other wise it appears in good shape for a Renault motor just ring lock from sitting ---Ive heard diesel oil more than once any one have any success with it >????? -ed

It's beginning to sound like more trouble than it's worth. Do you ever see running R16's on your side of the border? Or maybe one who's motor at least turns in a salvage yard. Could be CHEAP. Or, , , put the twin cam in?

My father pontificates so I've learned not to do that.
It's a Renault R16 engine, they were imported by the tens of thousands to North America... do some "for sale" internet homework and find a good running (maybe scrap car) engine for about $300(US) somewhere near you on this continent. (Beware, you may have to go to the Bushland)

Yes, they're the Europas that don't have trouble with their water pumps. :)

Trying to wedge a Twincam into an Sx Europa will result in a tail-heavy Europa with a weak frame. It's been done, but it's not a good idea. And it's a lot more labor intensive and expensive than rebuilding the original engine for a few hundred dollars.

Junk R-16 engines aren't all that common in my experience. If you find one, it has an 8.5:1 compression ratio and no power. Solution: Replace pistons plus camshaft. Hmm. Sounds like a little more than Ed would need to do...
