Gary reminded me of my old post on this subject. As described, these washer/"O"ring pieces have survived for almost three years now with no sign of oil around the stud/waher. I think the secret is the close fit to the stud and the captivation of the "O"ring by the washer. I do not torque them beyond the factory spec, thus the washer portion never contacts the cam cover, avoiding any deformation of the cam cover.
I realize not everone has access to a lathe, but they could be made on a drill press. In terms of cost, I think I have less than $4.00 in the whole mess and that included making a second set. I am lucky to have a company locally, which deals in "O"rings and is wiling to sell in limited quantities. The washers are something that should be made on an automatic screw machine. The only trouble is finding a machine source who will make the limited number of units required. My friends business makes small parts in the hundreds of thousands. and even what could be made from a single 20' length of material would not be worth his set up time.
Give it a go Alex and let us know if you have the same result as I have.

Its really funny ,I read the forum most days and completely missed that post. I also searched the archives but I didn't search regarding torque settings
I do think that most of us have learnt something about rubber pipe!
Have a good Christmas!
