Is this oil pump ok?

I don't think your pressure is all that far from 'normal'. The manual says hot oil pressure is 35-40 psi. Miles Wilkins say that normal pressure is 38-40 psi, high pressure pumps give 55-60psi - both are when the engine is hot.
Personally I wouldn't worry. What I find more important is how long the oil pressure is maintained after the engine is stopped - the longer the better usually. If the pressure drops to zero instantly as soon as the engine stops then you may have a problem. Mind you its difficult to see this with an electronic gauge unless you kill the engine but don't disconnect the power to the gauge - for example by pulling the coil power feed.

The calibration specialist in me can't help but point out that you are at the extreme end of the range on that gauge, which will affect its accuracy. Having said that, I agree with others that it looks like an honest reading.

This is the response to a question I asked an on line seller of an oil pump for a twincam yesterday.

'Hi,
this is autopumps branded pump which is made in China with quality control in the UK. There are no cross flow pumps available which are not from China, although we are aware some sellers claiming otherwise'

I would think that the quality control amounts to opening the box containing 100 pumps, spinning the rotor over to make sure it actually turns, and declaring it 'QUALITY CONTROLLED'. Good luck buying a quality pump everyone.
