Well this is interesting.......not? Dual gauges that show oil pressure 0-60psi or 0-100psi. I've searched the archives on here and though there's not a lot to confirm either way the general consensus appears to be that early cars were fitted with 0-60 psi gauges. At what point they changed to 0-100 seems debateable and unknown and thus I'm not sure which is correct for my August 1965 S2. Not that it really matters for an ordinary road car has has been said and in any case it's likely that the original gauge has been replaced at some point unless you've owned your car from new and know the gauge is original. It would be nice to know which scale the gauge on my car had when it was new though.

Perhaps you could find a similar male threaded tube like your securing nut, drill a clearance hole for the bulb up to its flange, slim it down and then wind it into the threaded hole you have until if jams so that it forms your end stop.
You will have to conceive some means of gripping this super washer to turn it, of course, and it assumes the thread will ultimately jam and not just fall into the abyss.

All I can say is that when I got my February 1973 car in 1981 it had a 0-60 oil pressure guage and I believe the car was pretty unmolested. Being Ford based, with a 'normal' pressure of about 40, 0-60 looks more reassuring than 0-100. The water temperature guage is in Centigrade.
No offence taken John. I see I sent my message at 8:43 pm. At my age, it's best you don't phone me before 9 am or after 9 pm!!!!
