I believe the old adage says if you have to ask the price you can't afford it.

I like your list. Interesting that you say a 205 1.6 GTi, my first car was a 1.9 GTi and I just read this article this morning:
http://www.pistonheads.com/doc.asp?c=52&i=25744
I have never driven the 1.6 but I will own a 1.9 again some day. I loved that car.
My list of 'real world' wants (but for some would have to sell the Elan, and in some instances the family too, to buy):
Porche 968 ClubSport
BMW E46 M3 CSL
Lotus Elise S1 Sport 160
Honda NSX
Nissan 240Z
Caterham Seven
Lancia Delta Integrale Evo II
Cooper Mk X (just put it in the living room to look at instead of watching TV)
BMW E39 M5
Renault Clio Williams
Ginetta G40R (Sort of car Lotus should be making now) http://www.ginetta.com/cars_g40r
Lotus Elan S3
Audi RS2 (so the dog can come too!)
Ford Mustang 390GT (Yes, in Highland Green)
Honda S2000 GT100
Sunbeam Alpine Mk 3 in sky blue (My uncle took me for a drive in his when I was 10 - left an impression)
I could go on all day...
Ralph - that scale Bentley is incredible, more pictures please!

It would have to include a Bugatti or 2 and definitely a Lancia Stratos. A GP Bugatti such as a 35 and if we're dreaming a 57 Atalante. And then a 289 Cobra and a monocoque chassis Lotus F1 such as a 25, 33 or 49.

Not wanting to divert this thread too much, but as I was asked, and I guess car stuff is car stuff........
When I was trying to sell it I had a friend, who was going to the TT, track down the famous watchmaker, and Bentley aficionado, George Daniels who lived on the Isle of Man, to see if he was interested. He wasn't but said many nice things which, coming from him, are the best compliments I've been paid.
Last heard of the car was in Bruce McCaw's collection, accompanying his real, full size version.
If you want one I'm happy to help, just expect to pay for several months of my time at my over priced hourly rate......
Cheers
Ralph.

Ralph, that scale model Blower Bently is amazing. Did you make all the parts yourself?
I was wondering whether there were any scale model Elans out there, I think my 3 year old boy would like a small Elan Pedal (or motor driven) car to sit in next to his dads one.

Hi Skittle,
Yep, apart from the tyres and the electric motor, I made all the parts from scratch.
The scale was decided on once I'd found some tyres that looked reasonable and I then scaled the rest of the car to suit. The wheels have the correct pattern and number of spokes as the originals. They were originally solid centred utility wheels that I cut the centres out of.
The instruments had the correct Bentley faces as I was able to photograph some originals in the Southward museum, (with Sir Len's permission of course...."go for your life, and send me some photos when you're finished").
I don't mean you, but it's interesting the perceptions some people had when they asked "where did you get it?", and I would say I'd made it. Unless they were "fix it/make it" type people the assumption was always that you'd bought a bunch of bits and then assembled them into a car.
The concept of starting with a lump of brass and turning it into a filler cap, or whatever, was totally outside their experience, and beyond their comprehension.
So getting approval from someone of George Daniels stature was good for the ego!
Suspect the Elan would be a bit difficult to do and not look like a caricature.
Possibly not enough room for a body without altering the scale too much, or you'd end up with quite a large car. No doubt someone will post some pics to prove me wrong...
Cheers

I've always had a bit of a hankering for a TVR Taimar Turbo. Probably not as good a drive as an ?lan but if I had the money....!
