Well sort of; Hassan had his finger in the pie on both engines, if I remember correctly; but that is where any similarity ends.
I think you'll find the pills on the bedside table

I don't look at the Elite as an offshoot. The backbone chassis introduced with the Elan was not an innovation, it was an admission of defeat that the Elite's composite monocoque was just too expensive to build properly.

My understanding that it was unable to deliver the required rigidity for an open-top car. Surely the production efficiency improvements made by Hickman for the Elan body, reducing the number of separate mouldings needed, would have had equal benefit whether a monocoque or not?

Wasn't the original intention to build the Elan as a monocoque anyway, with the chassis merely being a stopgap for component testing?

I read an account by Hickman in which he says that he knew all along that it would require a separate chassis, but the argument was made to Chapman use it temporarily to allow development of other elements to proceed, allowing him to build it and prove the concept.

After a suprisingly diverse collection of responses, I will be offering a factory orginal ZS twin cam for sale. Approximately 21k and running with the ZS carbs when removed from my +2. Compression, including a leak-down test was conducted by three seperate mechanics with the average of all cylinders showing in excess of 150 psi and a range of 6-8 psi.
ASfar as I can tell as the second owner, the L block and head have never been seperated. Located in Nashville Tenn area with delivery available up to 500 miles. Over 500 miles we will need to talk about shipping costs.
I will post a detailed ad and pictures in a few days. This includes:
complete block with filled heads ( stock cams and valve train, timing chains)
new water pump
pistons and crank all as orginally installed
oil pan
valve cover
pully,
oil pump
2 orginal ZS 1.75 CD carbs
not included are crank seal, flywheel, distributor and oil dipstick which went on my Stage 2 rebuild..
Asking $3,000
off to Log 29 ,PM me at [email protected]
