The front bearing in the photo is certainly OK but the second fitted bearing has a hole but there's no corresponding gallery in the cylinder head. You might want to check this. Ideally you want a bearing with no hole in that location. You may have mixed up the bearings. I can't recall whether or not all the bearings have holes regardless of whether or not they are needed. Someone else who has done the job more recently or has a spare pack of bearings to inspect may be able to check and advise. It's one of those things that you pick up with experience that just doesn't look right.

Hello Ben,
How’s it progressing, looks to be keeping you busy?
I’m just in the contemplation phase of another wallet emptying project on my Élan and have been fruitlessly searching for info on a similar set up to yours.
I’m right in thinking this is using a 77.6mm stroke crossflow crank? Can you tell me which rods and pistons you’re using and from where they were obtained?
Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,
My progress had stalled due to house projects, but got an hour or so in the workshop this afternoon.
Yes, the crank is the 77.6mm cross flow, rods are standard twin cam 125e and pistons are JP short compression height to make it fit properly. I’m in Australia and Steve at Lotus Marques in Melbourne was the supplier and I understand he has them made to his own specification.
