Engine installation following rebuild

There is a small firm that specialises in some of the older car paints like cellulose that were in use before the current water based paints. Ken has been doing these for many years and may well be able to help with your engine paint and is worth a ring. I can't recall now exactly when he last had a stand, but he used to attend some of the Stoneleigh shows and I think I remember seeing engine paints on his stand.
Back in the late 1960's we used to use Massey Ferguson Grey off the old T20 tractors and it was a very good match, so perhaps one of the tractor resto boys may be able to help if Ken cannot. Remember that when people are looking at your engine it may well be in isolation with no other Loti around for comparison, so will they really be able to tell whether it is the actual factory colour, I don't think it is likely.
I know that Ken carries all the Ral colours so a close match with one of those may well be the answer. Alternatively QED Motorsport stock a Rover paint they call Lotus Engine Grey, see both below

have just used the QED `Lotus grey` and it looks good to me.
Their 250ml tin will do more than two engines.

Thanks ericbushby for a report on a recent use & positive recommendation. I will check that out.
It would be great to see pics, if you have any.
Here's a pic of what appears to be some of the remaining original engine paint on my S2.
Cheers, Jay

To be close to the correct colour it had to be in daylight with no sun. I think the colour in these photos is very close to that of the paint. To me it looks the same as the remaining paint on your engine.
