Kurt,
I ran into the same thing with the motor mounts several years ago. The spacers on the exhaust side are 1" to 1-1/8". I used a round file and small peanut grinder to slot the holes about 3/16" wider in each new motor mount. I did not change anything on the chassis, spacers or block.
Regards,
Dan

Well that bit about deforming the mounts 3/8" to a side kinda rolled right off my fingertip's! The practice is another thing!
I could cut down the spacers on the port side but have no idea about what to do with the other side. Modifying that involves welding is out because of the proximity to the rubber and I really have no idea what else I could do. Perhaps fill the holes with a plug just tack welded in and then drill new holes adjoining. My original 1964 mounts are coming apart.
Suggestions for a good source would be welcome.
Dan, mine are going to take more than 3/16. At least 3/8 to a side. I really would just like a good source. Guess I'll move on to other things for now and ponder a solution. Right now filling the holes and redrilling seems to be it.
Kurt.

Sounds like the mounts won't be happy. Why not just buy spacers from McMaster-Carr for a few bucks a piece:

or get the correct mounts.

Well, I removed the new mounts and compared them to the old and Dan was right. Apparently I'm not very good at eyeballing things anymore. The difference is about 3/16" per hole so I will hog them out with a die grinder and carbide burr. For now I fitted the old ones so that I have a chassis I can move out of my way. Slipped right together. Did a test fit of my header and I will have to have the mounts out of the way to fit it so there is no hurry. Header has to go out for "Jet Hot" treatment yet.
Thanks for support and condolences!

Hi Kurt,
I have fitted lots of different mounts, factory, heavy duty, TTR and Kelsport. In every case I have positioned the engine in the chassis with my engine hoist to give good clearance all round, particularly for the exhaust manifold, and then made up spacers, if necessary on both sides, to allow fitment without any excessive tension on the rubber. I haven't had any problems doing it this way
cheers
