fuel comsumption on a elan sprint

It's a while since I bothered with figuring out how much gas I used but I remember the figures from 20 years ago.
On a quiet road, that was a mixture of twists/turns and the occasional straight, that I used to travel regularly, I would get 23-24 mpg. That was really sticking my foot in it and averaging a bit over 80mph for the half hour trip.
This was not cruising along a motorway, but seeing a lot of redline, ( and a helluva lot fewer cops than you would nowadays.....).
All up, around town, a bit of highway etc. it always seemed to be around 27-28 mpg.
This was in a Webered Sprint being used the way Colin intended..

Upper 30's when driving it boringly. Seemed a senseless exercise when driving it properly to work out the MPH!
