Hi all,
Relating to the original post, does anyone happen to have the spec for the big end 'housing' bore for a standard 125E con rod please? I mean the bit the bearing shell sits in rather than the bore of the bearing itself. The workshop manual I have lists the big end running clearance (0.0005/0.0022") and the small end bore, but I can't find anything about the housing itself, either diameter or ovality.
Thanks for any assistance,
Will

Rohan is generally right. Most engines I rebuild have those bores trued up. The honing system used does in fact true up any out of round or tapered condition. Any of this however does not make the center to center distance on the rods the same. This is generally fixed by replacing the small end bushings and recutting them with a Tobin Arp or similar machine. It has come to be described as "tobin arp'ing" the rods. This also ensures that the two bores are parallel to each other. In my experience most rods have a certain amount of bend and or twist in them. Just a question of how accurate your measurement system is. When you spin over an engine lower end by hand that has this and an accurate line hone done you will feel the difference.

Thanks both. Looks like mine are a fraction over so I'll need to get them done.
