although, Ed ..... isn't this the second time this year you've done this?

very bad luck when that happens :| ...I know..... I put the clutch plate in back to front a few years ago - managed to blame it on my four year old tho.

...and as for oil out of the gearbox - now I'm always ready with a 2" deep tray.

alas yes --the ring gear was chewed beyond belief by the Nissan Denso adapted starter so it requires sweating a new ring gear on ----took the old one off today and am 'freezing' the fly wheel tonight to prepare the sweating on of the new gear ring tomorrow and reassembly of the motor tranny and hopefully back in on Sunday ----- :( ---having problems getting on the site ---perhaps Im still non gratus -- --ed

sweated the gear on today -----one needs a cutting torch to generated enough heat ----then it just drops on and centers its self --cool it with oil to replace the temper --magic ------ready to assemble tomorrow and in on Sunday --off to do some damage to a bottle of red wine and a pint or 2 and forget what an English car looks like for a bit -no wonder lotus car owners tipple  -ed
