Others on this forum have spoken about fitting an electric water pump in the bottom hose.
I guess you then remove the existing impellor, fit a shorter fan belt that does not go around the water-pump (just the generator/alternator) and block up the water-pump drip hole. That would eventually rust the unused water-pump bearing, I expect, so replacing the existing water-pump bearing with a plug of some sort would be required eventually

I have just removed my front cover, replaced stock pump and chain. as i recall in a earlier thread ther was some good advice on reassembly. This is first disassembly of my motor. there was a gasket betweeh pump housing and backplate. there is also gasket between front and rear plate outer edges. Seem to me Rohan had some insight on reassembly with or without gaskets. I lack the skill to locate previous thread. Thanks, Mike

You can type "Timing Case" in the Search box (top right of page) and you get this list to work through:

What reassembly did you want to know about? Timing case or water pump or what?
Since the joint between the two halves is flat, I guess they can be polished flat on a large table and emery paper, which is why perhaps they do/did not need a gasket. Personally I have used a thin layer of silicone flange sealant between back & front of the case.
