Andy.

You are correct, in that to measure the top, middle & bottom you will have to remove the valves.

My thinking was, in consideration of Rohans comments re wear:-
?The buckets wear in a barrel shape and the liners wear in an hourglass shape?

No problems to measure the buckets with a micrometer. This gives finite wear on the buckets.

Then re the hourglass shape on the liners. Maximum wear would be in 2 positions.
As the liner is 25mm long, then max wear at the top, would be at approx depth of 6mm.
I thought it may be possible to measure at the first max wear position.

These would give an improved measurement over the first measurement taken with a feeler blade and perhaps conclude if new buckets & liners were required. :idea:

But, upon reflection, I don?t think with the valve gear fitted this could be measured accurately. Not a good suggestion. :oops:

It would be best to fully measure the liners with the valves removed and therefore it?s a head off job.
