crankcase breather

PostPost by: aussieelan » Wed Aug 05, 2009 4:52 am

Lots of good discussion here ... something I need to recity on mine. It came without the factory airbox and therefore no beather pipe. It now has K&N's and the crankcase vents to nothing.

With this kind of set up, how does the hose/pipe/fitting stay in place in the breather hole? Is is simply a push fit? I don't really want to have to remove my head to tap out a thread. Solutions appreciated

Hello
If you use Cliveyboys piece then it holds itself in by vitue of the air box/air filtre/pipe. The rubber elbow option has a large ridge on the end that pushes in and gets a good fit. The rubber elbow is available in all normal Twincam outlets for about ?5 to ?10

this got me thinking .. and i came up with a quick fix with little effort ( or bodge if you like).
When i went up to Susan Miller for replacement heater hoses she gave me far more than i needed and i've had this ~ 3' length hanging around with nothing to do .
So, i replaced the old 6" length of rubber hose on breather pipe with it! i.e. the 3ft length comes out of the breather pipe and loops underneath carbs but above petrol pipes and back again to the standard airbox. As it is hanging lower than both the plan is for it to act as trap for condensed oil .
There is the added advantage (to my mind ) with the hose returning to airbox outside of throttle cable outer, of the throttle outer being held in a more vertical position at its end ...

a quick look and you wouldn't notice it was there.
