At this point I would pull the sump off and see whats going on.
In fact I always put the sump on last to ensure I can retrieve easily anything dropped when doing the timing and checking the engine rotation with the cams timed is easy to see any issues before the sump goes on.
The sump has to come off anyway to fix any problem with the assembly of the various components on the crank nose
