Solonoid Starter-- One Of-- Not Funtioning

ok heres one i need help on ----the starter solonoid has one of these neeto push buttons to start the car on it -----but when i hook up the starter button from the dash to the solonoid there is a little grunt lot of smoke and a fried push button any ideas----[ :ph34r: other than its wired incorrectly] ed law

Ed,
Are you saying it starts when pressing the solinoid button? if not is the starter motor jammed? a direct short in the starter motor?
Is it one of those round metal solinoids? could there be a short within the solinoid making the outter caseing "live" when energized from the ign switch?

is it taking the power to start the starter from the low powered ignition switch(wired incorrectly)

she starts with the solonoid button may be a grownd problem/ ED
