As an American I've never heard of them, so I looked it up "We undertake service and maintenance of all MX5 vehicles, and frequently take on bespoke projects on non-Mazda vehicles at a customer’s request. Additionally, feel free to call us to discuss your specific requirements, as we're dedicated to delivering tailored solutions that meet your needs perfectly. "
Which brings up the question, have you called them?

I doubt that Jag V6 would fit in the Elan engine bay also the bellhousing/gearbox would be a problem. Would be nippy though

I am not sure why I haven’t, as it was the plan 20 years ago

Smallest V6
Some racing in the day, but, little support is why I haven’t I suppose.
The newer Ford/Mazda 1.5L 4 is a screamer at 80kg & 250hp 220tq. But it’s a bit taller than the Duratec 6 I believe. At least the D6 you would have a transmission that fits. Caterham still uses the 90kg 4cy D @ 250hp, and again, a few transmission options.
