Head to block breather tube replacement

Gents,

I have just had my cylinder head ( Weber) worked on, new cams, seats, guides, followers and slight skim.
But unfortunately never replaced the old breather tube with new and of course it is leaking pretty badly.
The head gasket is absolutely sound. So I would not want to take head off again.

Can anyone please tell me if the breather tube can be replaced with head in situ, I have been told you can bend on middle and remove or refit.

Any advice is welcome.

Allegedly yes. Place in hot water to make it really supple prior to fitting. You may as well try it as if it doesn’t work you are no worse off.

I used a VW pushrod adjustable tube replacement. You have to cut it down to fit, but otherwise it's a perfect fit. Here is an example https://www.jbugs.com/product/9139.html?rrec=true

Hi Fred

Nice, did you shorten it from the blue part nearest the 2 locking nuts? And roughly how much did you have to take off, I presume the blue sleeve is threaded enough internally?or is there a seal in there , and were both ends a good fit with seals, did you use the ones provided?
I like this idea.

Jason, is was decades ago and didn't write anything down. The yellow inside part is threaded all the way, it just slips inside the blue part and you use the jam nuts to adjust the length and tighten it so it doesn't leak. I just eye balled it the length. It's pretty forgiving.

I have successfully done this. Bit of a pain of a job but do able, get it hot and then squeeze it in the middle. Which let's you fold/bend it slightly, fit the bottom end in and then push it under and in to the top hole.

Probably wise to cut a bevel on the ends just to help it slot in.
'73 +2 130/5 RHD, now on the road and very slowly rolling though a "restoration"

This looks like a good solution. I would use some RTV or "O" rings with it though.

Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.
