Big end bearing

PostPost by: LCRJ » Sat May 06, 2023 1:34 am

Hi all,
Please let me know if anyone has any information.
Each metal bearing currently in use was in good condition but is being considered for replacement for the future. As for the current Big end bearings(connecting rod bearings), they are stamped as shown in the photo, but does anyone have any information on the manufacturer and size? As for the other bearings, they had STDs made by ACL.
If you have any recommendations for bearing manufacturers from your experience, please share them with us together.
Thank you.

Hi Hiro

The M is Mahle
part number is PL20355
05 10 is date may 2010
200 I dont know may be for 20 thou undersize crank journals / , you need to measure the journals to confirm the sizes

see this You tube video from Mahle -

I have used ACL bearings for most of my Elan engine builds as they are a local manufacturer here in Australia and their quality has always been top class. i use the race series bearings on my competition engines and their standard bearings in road engines. The competiton race series bearings are harder with higher bearing material strength and last longer in a race engine but tend to wear the crank a little quicker which is not important in a race engine compared to a road engine where loads are lower and running hours much longer.

cheers

Thank you for the information.
I have searched for the part number and it appears that 200 is part of the part number.
It may be an STD size as there is no decimal point, but I would like to measure it.
I can measure the rod journal on the crankshaft and compare it to the STD rod journal size of 49.22mm (1.938")?
I will consider using ACL bearings with a clear size description because of this issue.
Thank you for your help.
Kindest regards,
Hiro :D
