motor mounts??

PostPost by: nomad » Tue Feb 28, 2023 4:55 pm

What is the current recommendations on motor mounts? I have a set of new ones that don't fit and I have a set of originals that fit and are in good shape but old. Are there better ones? Should I fill the cavity with some sort of rubber? Seems I have read about that somewhere. Would there be any real advantage to doing so?

Not sure if anyone has done poly yet, but I think in Aus there is someone?

Think there are a couple different poly builders in N America.

Keep us posted if you find something.

The last 2 sets of standard mounts I used collapsed over time. I went with the uprated version which are still rubber but have the tops filled in. Time will tell if they are any better. I think I got them from RD.

I'm sure there is a suitable rubber compound I could use to fill in the ones I have. Just no clue where to find it. Not sure a big glob of Silicone sealer would be the right thing.

I have the uprated ones from Tony Thompson and they have been fine but quite expensive for a simple modification. If one could find the rubber gunk to to it oneself on standard mounts that would be good. D

Get yourself a tube of silicone and fill them in, did mine and they lasted...

Tigerseal is ideal for this as it sticks to anything and is much stiffer than silicone.

jono, that product does seem perfect! Polyurethane in a tube. I've got a tube on the way.
