Oil drain tube

Hi All,
I just discovered that my oil breather tube (verticle rubber tube from head to block) is absent and the openings in both head and block are sealed off with expoxy.
I have been driving the S2 for years without noticing this.
Obviously a PO found it expedient to do this, but what is the effect on the engine and crankcase oil pressure?
Should I reverse this and reinstall the tube?

If you have suitable alternative breather and oil separation arrangements you dont need the drain tube.

Rohan, the engine is totally original and unmodified, with this one exception.

The purpose of the tube (as in the name) is to let oil drain back into the engine. The oil comes from the chamber in the head that is there to separate oil from the blow by air going out of the block, either to the air box or vented to atmosphere on older cars.

If the tube is missing the the oil that builds up on the chamber must exit by the air inlet or outlet. So the likely effect of this mod is more oil being blown out of the engine breather.

Thanks Rohan. I guess that explains why I get so much oil in my air box.
