In NZ we have Trademe as our eBay. A chap is selling front timing case cover with converted oil pump and electric water pump. Up for $1000 or 500 sterling, search lotus/parts.

Interesting concept but you would not be able to fit in an Elan unless you moved the radiator significantly further forward.

The two $100,000 plus Lotus Cortinas advertised on the site were interesting also !

Not sure I'd pay that much for an Mk2 Lotus Cortina but Lotus Fords in general are rising in value - even Australian built ones. Escort Twin Cam recently sold at Shannon's:

Baby poo brown was actually quite a fashionable colour back in the '70's and it was always great to jump into those vinyl seats after the car had been left standing in 40 degrees C Australian summer heat - it is still possible to drive with bum off seat holding on to the steering wheel you know!!

There was also a limited run "Denim Pack" Escort available in the Mk2 series. This had front seat's upholstered in Denim material (blue or fawn) and a free pair of Lee jeans supplied with every car. I saw one or two in scrapyards during the '80s but I don't know of and haven't seen any survivors in original condition since.
