Stromberg mixture

PostPost by: Mileso » Wed Mar 24, 2021 10:19 am

My S4 has a strange issue with the Strombergs. A little lean on idle but very rich when under load/warmed up. Bit weird as very little opportunity to adjust the carbs it seems and limited needle options?

Also manifests in a bit of a misfire under reasonable load but this maybe my old copper leads paired to electonic igintion?

I believe my air filter is old/dirty so just ordered a new one but any others similar experience welcome but on the rollers we took the air filter unit out and improved but didn't cure it.

Myself and others behind me fed up of petrol fume nausea!

Have you checked the diaphragms for pin holes / tears?

I have new copper HT leads together with an Aldon Ignitor electronic ignition, no issues at all. I only renewed the copper leads because they were 18 years old (& not giving any problems), they've been running all those 18 years with the same Aldon Ignitor.
