exhaust pipe frustration -Bender needed in Colchester

was on the phone to Susan Miller yesterday asking if by any chance the SS system she supplied for my early +2 was mismade (SSL019).... apparently they all have the same 30degree kink both ends ...the only thing is both my original mild steel transverse exhaust box and stainless steel box have 45 degree bends!! .
It seems extraordinary to me .
anyhow seems the most expedient solution is to find a pipe bender locally to me to to put a bit more of a bend in and I haven't yet found anyone in colchester area. Any suggestions ? I've tried googling 'custom exhausts' but nothing comes up locally

You could use the cut and weld technique. Nowhere near as neat but would get you out of a hole and you only need to find someone who can weld SS.

I had the same issue. I found a small exhaust fabrication business near me and he bent the pipe on his machine for no charge. It only took a couple of minutes. Take the old pipe with you as a pattern. You need to find a business that actually makes exhausts rather than one that just fits them. Most of their work will be putting ridiculously large back boxes on Clios and Corsas!

I've found Powerflow Exhausts at Ipswich, Unit 3 Poplar Hall, Elmsett Airfield, IP7 6LN. Telephone 01473 209210. And also Demand Engineering Ltd, Lewis Farm, Pettaugh Road, Stonham Aspal, Stowmarket, Suffolk. IP14 6AU. Telephone 01473 890820. Both have web sites.

Sad state of affairs when a manufacturer puts a bend (kink?) like that one in a new product whether the angle is correct or not. For what the get for SS exhaust systems you'd think they could afford a tubing bender that does a clean job.

My early +2 s.s. exhaust link pipe did not marry either. I used the original steel link pipe to join the s.s. Silencer to the manifold. When I get the car running I will take it to a local exhaust firm in Rochdale to get the s.s. link pipe fitted. I'm with you all, parts should fit.

OK so spoke to SS exhausts today and they said Susan Miller's the oracle .... So i am the one who now volunteers to tell Susan / SS that their pattern for early transverse exhaust is WRONG !
lovely lady from SS exhausts said they'd had no complaints up to now ... i'm so glad I'm not alone. perhaps some good will come of this and the inheritors of our early +2s will thank me for the intervention

bloody miles away out in the sticks but it's the closest at 40mins away
It's odd one's perception of distance. Living in Scotland I would consider a 40 minute journey to be almost next door. That's closer than for me to visit Glasgow which I do frequently.
