head removal

hi ive a 74 plus 2 /130 and need new valve guides and valves does any one know book time for head removal local garages aren't interested , or is anyone in kent know the right man to do if thanks

hi, it runs well has good compression on 3 cylinders 180 no 3 is 165 but smokes on over run

Have you checked the valve clearances?

Yes..if they are too tight or non existent you will lose compression...

Which would not cause it to smoke on the over-run.

The only circumstance I can think of where it would be so were if an inlet valve not to open at all, then apart from running on 3 cylinders the induction stroke would draw in cylinder lubrication o?l and crankcase fumes and push them out through the exhaust where they will gather so that the engine still smokes for a very long time after the valve problem has been resolved.

Ask me how I know :oops:

Editted, my apologies, I had missed the low compression on one cylinder, its harder to see the blow-by exhaust fumes Under acceleration and the crancase ventilation can make it take a gobfull of fumes when the throttle is closed, also valve guides will not cause a compression loss so your comment is much more valid than my response.
