Front Cover bolt

PostPost by: wobblyweb » Fri Oct 30, 2015 4:02 pm

Can any advise what thread the long bolt that goes through the head into the timing case is?
5/16 UNC I think. I need to buy a helicoil kit for the cover.

Thanks

i sugest you use a pillar/column drill to be sure the hole is drilled 90? for the Helicoil or Armstrong Wire thread insert. The final result will be stronger and better than new
good luck with the repair

Thank you for your replies.
I think the problem is that the block is a tall block with a spacer between the head and cover but still has the normal length bolt and the treads have stripped. I will use a pillar drill and a longer bolt.
Thank you for the advice.
