Motor Drop

PostPost by: twincamman » Sat Jan 10, 2004 7:11 pm

has anyone manged to remove the motor in an elan through the bottom of the chassis ? with removal of the head and carbs this appears to be a workable solution to hanging a 300 pound lump at 90 degrees to the earth 5 feet off the ground . ed law

Dont know if it can be done but assuming you cut of or modify the lower chassis brace on the little Elan or you are working on a +2 with the removable brace, I would think by the time you have moved the engine forward to clear the g/box the engine would not go down because of the vacuum chamber but I could be wrong!
