HELP I need somebody

PostPost by: el-saturn » Sun Jun 07, 2015 5:28 pm

the bottom front seal slipped out of position during the sump mounting process. i tore it out and filled the 3mm
gap (the half circle cork area ca. 50 - 60mm dia.) with silicon - the rest and the corners are are well covered with it. as theres no pressure and a nice "channel" on the top, would you also assume it?s leekproof??? or would you take everything apart and start from the beginning???
PLEASE tell me what YOU would DO?? thanks - i?ll maybe sleep better - sandy
PS engne out due to release bearing AGAIN!!!!

Even if it is not leaking I would not want unknown gobs of silicon getting into my oil strainer.

Pain in the bum, but you will get good at it after while.

Hi

It will leak, do you want to loose a lot of oil and possibly damage the engine ?
I would never trust it be to secure on the road

thanks jon, i basically agree but my dry sump pan wouldn?t "mind" having the guest. the scavenger side of the pump sucks from the very bottom of the pan: 1mm gap both sides and the oil strainer won?t ever see that piece, which is well secured in the "cork channel) it?s a T-profile: top 4mm wide, on the sumps?semi circle about 10mm wide and 3-4 mm thick - sitting on acetone degreased surfaces) - and as there?s a bit of pressure making it potentially no issue as it won?t go in to the sump???? i?m just hoping jon cheers sandy
HOPE TO GET MORE FEEDBACK ROM YOU FELLAS!

I would'nt have silicon anywhere near a sump or oil feed. it once cost me a rebuild when a tiny bit found it way into the system. David

Sandy
Throw it away and fit a Zetec.

Dry sump pan? Oil scavenging system? ARE YOU BEING SERIOUS ???

You spend all that money, then get it wrong and you bodge it with silicone..... WHAT ARE YOU THINKING OF?

Take it all out and start again...... Please!

I'm not a purist, but I know what I'm talking about. This will always be a thorn in your side if you don't sort this out properly, it will eat away at you; being Swiss is no defence, stupid is an international disease.

There... Now I have written a post just like one of yours when you have been on the schnapps
Kindest regards
