So the silicone tubing put around the screws help to prevent the oil to leak out...? Good idea then

Ray at RD Enterprises is selling a cam cover gasket made from modern materials;

New Uprated TC Cam Cover Gasket
New composite fiber gasket with silicone sealing bead
This is the most durable gasket yet! Attach the plain side of the gasket to either the head or the cam cover with sealant, the integrated silicone bead will seal the other side.

Ref. 26E0001HP $22.00 each
Quantity pricing: two @ $20.00 each, four @ $18.70 each

Phil,

Do you, or anyone, know if these gaskets are available in the UK?

Richard Hawkins

I had a Cam cover gasket Identical to that i bought from Burton a bit back, It was expensive i seem to remember (4 times the price of a Cork one) and its not reusable just like the cork.

The annoying thing is i only had it on a year before i had to remove the cam cover (can't remember why) so i went back to Cork. Thing is i've never had any oil leak issues with any of my Cam Cover Gaskets?? The cork i only use once, Buy them in a sheet so they don't deform, fit it dry and make sure the two surfaces are thoroughly clean / degrease. You can tell if you have done it right if the next time you have to remove the Cam cover its stuck down so takes effort to remove.

Cometic gasket - reusable & does not need sealant, but it is advisable imo to apply some over the "D" inserts.

http://www.burtonpower.com/cometic-cam- ... 19com.html

Available from a number of sources in the UK - circa ?20.
