PHP Racengines?

PostPost by: ensign42 » Sun Sep 07, 2014 12:02 am

All-
Can anyone give me thier experiences with Barry Sales and PHP? I dropped my engine off this last spring for machine work, and am still waiting on an initial quote for the work. He doesn't seem to answer his phone or return calls, and have not heard from him since early July when he said he would try to get something done by 26 July I. Time for me to use it for my wedding. I am not bashing here, or angry. Just concerned. Any feedback would be appreciated- please keep it positive, anything negative, please PM me. Thanks all!

Will, I would be wondering too. About 3 years ago, Barry was readily available by phone when I needed some work done. I haven't been in touch with him since then. I hope someone else can provide some additional info. that is current. Maybe someone else from the forum in the Chicago knows more.

Barry is an absolute top notch engine builder. He knows all about English cars and especially the Twin Cam engines. He does some amazing things to Twin Cam race engines and has a dyno to back up his builds. Famous Frank can back up the support for Barry. I am very surprised you are having issues. I think he is still a one man shop and perhaps got backed up with race car work?

We also have another great engine builder in the Chicago area. Bill Truesdale at Apex in Bensenville.

I just want to confirm, I am not upset or irritated, just concerned. I do understand he runs a one man band. Holly and I had a truly delightful time when I dropped off the corpse, and saw all sorts of wonderful bits. I just wondered if he was okay, and if any one else had dealt with super long wait times with him. I am willing to sit for a while for his caliber of knowledge.
