oil in air filter

Anybody got any ideas with this one?
Just had the head gasket go on my stromberg carb elan. Unusually the gasket was leaking out so no mayo in oil. Had the head skimmed and crack tested by local machine shop, ordered gasket set from QED and local garage put car back together. Car seemed to run fine until noticed a serious oil leak from the carb air cleaner. After taking the carb air box off I found it to be full of clean oil. My oil level was slightly high so I drained some oil off to no avail, Went out in car for 12 mile run today and found the carb air box full of oil again. What has my friendly mechanic done?
Anybody got any ideas
Thanks

Check the black rubber oil drain tube from the head to block under the carbs has been reinstalled correctly. if this is blocked the breather system will fill with oil and the oil will flow into the airbox.
